The Gioacchino Rossini Philharmonic of Recco is an association with a great interest in music since its foundation in 1850. The passion for music has always been accompanied by a great spirit of association of its musicians which has kept the band alive. with an ever more intense vigor to nowadays. The activity was only interrupted during the years of the Second World War, in which many of its musicians had to leave for the front. In 1946 the band restarts and it takes only a few years to form a well-knit group that leads it to win a band performance competition held in Lavagna in 1952. The main feature of the Rossini Philharmonic is that it takes great care of its staff: all the musicians are trained within the “School of Musical Orientation” and continue to attend the school even when they join the band. The band is active throughout the year but the greatest commitment is concentrated in the summer: there are in fact many civil and religious events in which this group is involved, which musically accompanies the most important popular events. The activity that most favors this musical group is the cultural exchange with other associations: for this reason the twinning are the most coveted activity by all its musicians who welcome this type of activity mainly as an opportunity for learning and sincere friendship.
On the occasion of the Colombian events of 1992, the Philharmonic participated in the theatrical show “Ulysses and the White Whale” by and with Vittorio Gassman, performing incidental music written by Nicola Piovani.
